Placket making is a very complicated and time-consuming process, let’s take a look at the traditional method:
a) Marking process – 6 steps:
Pick front panel – smooth panel – pairing with cardboard – alignment adjustment -pen marking – placing
b) Single needle sewing – 15 steps:
Pick marked front panel – smooth panel – pick fused placket – alignment position – move to presser foot – sewing – adjustment during sewing – turn corner – sewing – corner – sewing backstitch to complete – cut thread – checking the sewing quality – placing
c) Manual cut – 7 steps
Pick panel completed sew – smooth the area – take cutter to cut – single cut/double cut to ensure quality – complete & placing – cycle complete
And the results are
This process can cost the operator at least 50 seconds for a single piece, which leads to the total yield for 1 day (8 working hours) being around 500pcs.
The placket attached may have un-even/left-right sewing.
